Chess in schools

Psyon Chess delivers after-school chess clubs in primary schools, alongside its junior clubs in Chislehurst, Bromley and Beckenham.

What a school club looks like

Sessions follow a structured curriculum, interspersed with games, competitions and tournaments. Children learn something specific each week and then play — the balance between teaching and playing is what keeps them coming back.

Clubs suit complete beginners through to improvers up to an ECF standard rating of 1200, so a school can start one without any existing chess provision.

Who runs the sessions
